Tourism Presentation to the Industry

17 November 2006

This year’s Jersey Tourism presentation to the industry promises a new and fresh format, designed to deliver, a thought provoking and informative day to its delegates. A high quality line up of speakers, interactive question and answer sessions and a workshop featuring the use of new media are amongst the range of new initiatives planned for the conference to be held on Thursday 23rd November at the Hotel de France.

The programme - see link below - will be opened by Senator Philip Ozouf, Minister for Economic Development. Senator Ozouf said: “This event marks the start of a new approach to the development of tourism in Jersey. With Jersey Airport and Jersey Harbours now fully integrated into the Economic Development Department, Government is now in a position to play its role in developing increased economic benefits for the sector and all businesses that operate within it.”

Sessions will include an overview of a recent audit of the range of Jersey’s tourism products and services recently conducted by David Geddes, an internationally recognised consultant. The report is attached (see below).

A presentation will be given by the newly appointed UK Advertising agency Communiqué360, an insight to the development and marketing of Tourism in the Cayman Islands will be delivered by Donald McDougall Regional Manager UK & Europe, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism
and a personal insight is to be offered by Lawrence Huggler regarding his significant investment in The Club and Spa and his plans for the future.

During the last part of the day Webreality and the Chartered Institute of Marketing will host marketing workshops featuring new media and examples of best marketing practice.

Members of Jersey media are very welcome to attend all or part of the day.
