Thomsonfly – here to stay

23 October 2006

There has been some speculation that Thomsonfly is planning to cancel routes to and from the Island, as potential customers had not been able to pre-book flights for next summer.

Thomsonfly have made an official statement correcting this situation and are quoted: “it is normal for these routes not to go on sale at this time of year, we are planning to keep these flights within our programme and they will go on sale in due course”.

The airport authority is in fact meeting today with the airline. A meeting that had been scheduled some time ago. The objective of the meeting is to discuss future additional routes.

Assistant Economic Development Minister, Deputy Alan Maclean said: “The Thomson Fly service has been such a success that we are currently discussing the possibility of some additional new routes with the airline and I trust this statement will allay any fears of Thomsonfly’s intentions.”

He continued “Jersey Airport is delighted that Thomsonfly has clarified the situation and we will do all we can to sustain and develop the partnership. We know how important these routes are for both visitors and residents alike.”
