Major Emergency Planning Exercise

19 November 2007

On Saturday 17 November 2007 , an Emergency Planning exercise will be held at Hautlieu School between 0900 –1500. The aim of "Exercise Flying Swan" is to develop and build on existing emergency response plans to a major incident in Jersey.

Sponsored by the Emergency Planning Board, the exercise will involve Ministers from the Emergencies Council, together with their Assistant Ministers, Chief Officers from the Emergency Planning Board and members of their command teams, as well as those from the Emergency Services, Armed Forces, and other key agencies.

The Emergency Planning Officer, Michael Long explained the overall aim of the exercise, "It is important that individuals and organisations develop a wider understanding of the roles, responsibilities, procedures and decision making processes involved in a major incident, as well as encouraging effective working relationships between all of the key stakeholders".
