Beaumont Hill Road Marking closes road for two nights

31 October 2007

Transport and Technical Services (TTS) will be repainting the Beaumont Hill road markings on the nights of the 6 and 7 of November, requiring the road to be closed between 9pm and 5am.

TTS will be using a new paint that will help motorists by increasing the reflectivity of the white lines at night, particularly when the road is wet. However, this new paint needs a longer drying time and the work is being done at night to minimise disruption to traffic. Motorists are asked to follow the signed diversions and allow extra time for their journeys, access to residents will be available at all times.

The process, which is not noisy, involves spraying the paint on to the road using a specialist process. The surface must then be left for the marking to dry. The finished product has a rougher texture than traditional white lines, which is how the reflectivity is increased.

The process is highly weather sensitive and the length of time taken to complete the work can vary greatly depending on the weather conditions. The dates of the work are provisional and timings and dates may vary in response to weather conditions.

Transport and Technical Services regret any inconvenience these essential works may cause.
