Treasury release details of employees remuneration

01 August 2007

In the Financial Report and Accounts for 2006, the States Treasury have included details of the remuneration of States employees. Further information is being made available from the States Employment Board which is providing particulars of the type and number of senior posts holders who earned in excess of £70,000 per annum.

During 2006, 310 employees earned in excess of £70,000 representing 5.17% of the total public sector. It should be noted that this figure included pension contributions from both the employer and the employee, overtime and standby pay and other allowances.

The figures reflect the 2006 pay award increase which varied from 2.4% to 2.75% across the service. If this pay award had not been applied, the net increase would have been nil although it should be noted that the Postal Department (which was incorporated in 2006) is now excluded from these figures.

Mick Pinel, Head of Employee Relations commented, "These figures do not represent any significant change; Consultant Doctors increases for instance, are just keeping their salaries in line with UK rates"
