Two More Commercial Vehicles Impounded In Road Check at La Collette.

08 March 2007

Following on from last week’s combined road check when four commercial vehicles were impounded, Officers from Driver and Vehicle Standards, (DVS) and the States of Jersey Police conducted a second road check on Tuesday 6 March 2007 , at La Collette.

A further two commercial vehicles were impounded at DVS for further inspection. Reports will be submitted to the Police for consideration of prosecution. Both vehicles were impounded for defective brakes and one had fuel / oil leaks. One commercial vehicle had to have three tyres replaced before moving from the check site.

Six further vehicles were issued with defect notices requiring them to be repaired and inspected at DVS. Defects included lighting and tyres.

One person was found to be driving a commercial vehicle without the required licence.

DVS and the Police continue to urge operators of commercial vehicles to ensure that their vehicles are in a roadworthy condition and that their drivers hold the correct category of driving licence.
