Traffic Signal Replacement at St Clement’s Road/La Route du Fort Junction

29 October 2007

There will be no traffic controls at the junction of St Clement’s Road and La Route du Fort from Wednesday 31 October until Friday 2 November (half term week), as Transport and Technical Services will be installing new traffic signals.

The current signals at this junction are 23 years old and need replacing as they have become less reliable. The new traffic signal equipment will feature much brighter ‘light emitting diode lamp’ technology and will use only half the electricity required by the old equipment.

In order to maintain safe traffic flow, motorists coming from Georgetown will be unable to turn right into St.Clement’s Road. Instead, they should continue west to Green Street roundabout in order to access the town centre. In addition, the northbound carriageway of St Clement’s Road between Nelson Avenue and Route du Fort will be closed; motorists coming from the coast road will be diverted along Havre des Pas and Green Street , to the town centre. Other traffic movements through the junction will be unaffected.

Access to premises will be maintained.
