St Helier Development and Regeneration Strategy – “Walk and Talk” sessions

14 May 2007

Senior planners from the Planning Department are inviting the public to join them for guided walking tours, between 14 and 19 May 2007, around five sections of St Helier which have been identified as key areas of change in new proposals for regenerating the town.

The five areas have been identified by consultants EDAW as places which offer particular potential for improving St Helier as a whole.

These are:

  • The Town Centre
  • Mont de la Ville and Fort Regent
  • The Eastern ‘Fringe’ – north and south of Colomberie
  • The Western ‘Gateway’ – Town Hall to People’s Park
  • Northern Areas – Town Park and Bath St area

The tours have been organized to enable residents, businesspeople and members of the general public to talk first-hand to planners about the proposals, the reasons for them, and to discuss their support for, or concerns about, the regeneration strategy.

Each session will last about 2 – 2½hours. They will involve a tour of the area lasting about 75 minutes, followed by refreshments and informal discussion at a nearby venue. Those attending will be invited to submit their comments, either by writing them and leaving them with the planners at the venue or sending them in later.

Members of the media are invited to attend the sessions, which will take place as follows:
