Road Resurfacing on Mont Millais and Bagatelle Road

29 June 2009

Transport and Technical Services (TTS) is resurfacing sections of Mont Millais and Bagatelle Road during the Summer Holiday. These maintenance works are essential given the heavy usage of the road by nearly 11,000 vehicles daily and its current poor condition.

The extent of the works will be from just above the junction of Mont Millais with Mont Pinel to just below the exit from the Jersey College for Girls’ Car Park and will be commencing on Monday 20 July 2009 for a period of approximately six weeks. TTS has specifically planned to undertake the works during the School Summer Holidays to minimise disruption to the travelling public.

It has been at least 23 years since this section of Mont Millais has been resurfaced; in some locations 32 years. In those areas showing most deterioration, the road will also be strengthened. The project cost is about £200,000.

During the resurfacing works, the road will be closed for all through traffic between 9:30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. TTS has given careful consideration to the diversion routes that will be signposted and advertised in the Jersey Evening Post before commencement of the works and will be respectfully requesting that they are followed by road-users to minimise disruption. Access to premises will be arranged through the site supervisor.

TTS looks forward to providing road-users with a good quality, durable road surface and regrets any inconvenience that these essential maintenance works may cause.
