Fairer use of disabled parking spaces

10 June 2009

From Wednesday 10 June, a driver who uses an on-street disabled parking bay will not be able to return again to use that space, or any in the same road, for at least an hour. The Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Connétable Mike Jackson has agreed this change in the law to give more Disabled Driver Badge holders the opportunity to use parking facilities.

“This law change will allow more people to park by not allowing the blocking of spaces for long periods of time,” said the Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Connétable Mike Jackson. “I wanted to make the system fairer for all Blue Badge holders.”

This now brings disabled parking in line with Paycard and Parking Disc areas on–street where there is also no return allowed within the hour.
