Registered unemployment figures released for July 2010

The registered unemployment report for July 2010 has been released by the Statistics Unit.

This latest report shows that:

  • on 31 July 2010 the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1,250
  • the latest monthly ASW total is 140 higher than that of a month earlier, in June 2010, and 310 greater than that of a year earlier, in July 2009
  • on a seasonally adjusted basis the total number of people registered as ASW was 90 higher than the monthly average for the first 6 months of 2010
  • the 16-19 and 20-24 years age-bands accounted for the majority of the latest monthly increase in total ASW, with rises of 70 and 40, respectively, compared with June 2010
  • 110 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme

Registered unemployment report for July 2010 (government and administration section)

The Social Security Department compiles and administers data on people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work in Jersey. The States of Jersey Statistics Unit has taken over responsibility for independently analysing this anonymised data and since the end of January 2010 has published monthly reports of the figures.
