Registered unemployment March 2010

The Social Security Department compile and administer data on people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work in Jersey. The States of Jersey Statistics Unit has taken over responsibility for independently analysing this anonymised data and since the end of January 2010 has published monthly reports of the figures.

Latest figures

  • on 31 March 2010 the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1180 
  • the latest monthly ASW total is 140 less than that of a month earlier, in February 2010 and 130 greater than that of a year earlier, in March 2009
  • 250 teenagers were registered as ASW, 60 fewer than in February 2010
  • 100 teenagers were on the advance to work scheme
