Car drivers urged to slow down after recent weather conditions

26 August 2010

The emergency services are urging all car drivers to take special care on the roads during this period of changeable weather.

50% of the traffic collisions that have required the attendance of the Fire and Rescue teams have occurred in the last 6 weeks and this statistic is still rising.

2 more serious car collisions were reported on Wednesday 25 August 2010, one in St Helier and the other in St John. 3 casualties, all with head and suspected neck injuries, were transported to hospital for further treatment.

One of the drivers was particularly lucky to escape as his vehicle had started to 'fold' in the middle section through the force of the impact.

The causes behind Wednesday's collisions are currently under investigation.
