2012 Jersey Boat Show confirmed

13 October 2011

The 2012 Barclays Wealth Jersey Boat Show will take place again next year over the May bank holiday weekend (5-7 May) .

The announcement was made by Chief Officer and Harbour Master, Howard Le Cornu, during this year’s Southampton Boat Show, which he attended last month with Managing Director for Jersey Marinas, Myra Shacklady, who has overall responsibility for organising the maritime event.

During the Southampton Boat Show, Mr Le Cornu and Ms Shacklady met with many key members of the boating community and spent time at the Channel Islands' exhibition stand, helping to promote Jersey as a maritime destination. They also promoted next year’s Jersey event by meeting with existing and potential new partners and sponsors.

Mr Le Cornu said "The Barclays Wealth Jersey Boat Show continues to go from strength to strength and I am delighted it has received such glowing accolades from industry partners. It is particularly encouraging to see its reputation growing, especially on an international level. However, in our mind the philosophy remains unchanged and that is the fact that the boat show is a perfect showcase for Jersey’s marine leisure industry while at the same time offering a free community event that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Looking forward to next year, we are delighted to have the continuing support of Barclays Wealth and the Royal Navy and are now in the planning stages to ensure that the 2012 event is even bigger, better and bolder than ever."

The programme for next year is still to be announced but details will be posted on the event's website when available. The Royal Navy has confirmed its attendance and many exhibitors who participated this year have already signed up for 2012.

Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Paul Routier MBE, said "The Barclays Wealth Jersey Boat Show is now the third largest boat show in the British Islands and sits comfortably alongside Southampton and London, which is a fantastic achievement in such a short space of time. Exhibitors and traders who took part this year reported excellent sales and I am pleased to hear that many of them wish to take part again in 2012. I have every confidence that the team at Jersey Marinas, together with the continuing support of Barclays Wealth, will once again deliver an event to be proud of, one that not only will reap benefits for the local economy but will also encourage the community to attend, soak up the festival atmosphere and help kick start summer 2012."

Individuals and companies interested in taking part can download an exhibitor’s pack from the website.
