Children's Policy Group extend consultation period

17 February 2011

The consultation deadline for the Children and Young People’s Strategic Framework has been extended until Friday 4 March 2011.

The draft framework sets out a proposed vision for all children and young people including those who face disadvantage or disability.

Extending the deadline will provide children, young people and parents with an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft framework over the half-term holiday. A special abridged version has been developed which will be available to all Jersey pupils, their parents and teachers via the Education Department’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) or via this website. It will include a series of questions which pupils can answer online either individually or as part of a family or peer group.

Commissioned by the States of Jersey’s Children’s Policy Group, the Strategic Framework will support organisations, including local charities, to work together in a coordinate effort to improve the opportunities available to our island’s children and young people.

Deputy Anne Pryke, Chair of the Children’s Policy Group said “Approximately 800 children and young people from across the Island contributed ideas that helped shaped the first draft Strategic Framework. We’d now like to know what they think of it. Does it include the things they think matter the most? Have we missed anything out? Have we included things that they just don’t think are important? The answers they give will help us decide what we, as politicians, need to do over the coming years to deliver a bright future for all Jersey’s children and young people.”
