Could you give a child a home?

A major campaign to attract families in the Island to adopt and foster children launched in May this year has now moved its exhibition to the final venue of the Harbour Gallery.

As a result of the exhibition, the Fostering and Adoption team has received some enquiries from Islanders interested in finding out more about fostering and adoption, as well as positive feedback about the quality of the exhibition, which has helped to raise the profile of fostering and adoption in Jersey.

To mark the end of this campaign, the Fostering and Adoption team are drawing attention to a particular young girl, 10 year old Isabelle, who the team are currently trying to find a fostering family for.

Emmy Lindsey, team manager of the Fostering and Adoption team said “We are planning an e-mail campaign where we want to reach as many people as possible by sending this profile through e-mail. We are urging people who receive this profile by e-mail to forward this to family and friends with the aim to reach as many people as possible in Jersey.”

All HSSD staff received the email about Isabelle recently, and they in turn are being urged to send it on to their friends and family to see if anyone based in Jersey can offer Isabelle a home.

“The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness of fostering and adoption in Jersey and, through the medium of photography, highlight the daily lives of Jersey’s fostering and adoption families” said Emmy.

“Foster carers and adopters provided us with photographs which they felt illustrated what fostering or adoption meant for their families. This collection of photographs resulted in a visually stunning exhibition, which after the initial launch at the Arts Centre on the 24 May, has been travelling around the Island appearing at different venues.”

Islanders who have not seen the exhibition are invited  to come along to The Harbour Gallery in St Aubin where the photographs will be on display until 22 August, which will be the last venue where the exhibition will appear as part of this campaign.
