MP Daniel Kawczynski to visit

12 August 2011

Conservative MP Daniel Kawczynski will make an official visit to Jersey next week on 16 and 17 August.

As Parliamentary Private Secretary to Jim Paice, UK Minister for Agriculture and Food, and to Richard Benyon, UK Minister for the Natural Environment and Fisheries, Mr Kawczynski has a particular interest in Jersey’s agriculture and dairy farming industries. Also, in his capacity as Chairman of the Saudi Arabia All Party Parliamentary Group and Parliamentary Chairman of the Conservative Arab Network, he will meet representatives of Jersey’s financial services sector and the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission (JOAC).

During his visit Mr Kawczynski will meet Assistant Chief Minister, UK and International Relations, Senator Cohen and other ministers, including Treasury and Resources Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Paul Routier, and Social Security Minister and Chairman of the JOAC, Deputy Ian Gorst. He will also attend meetings at Jersey Dairy, the Department of the Environment, Jersey Finance and the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

Senator Cohen said: "I invited Daniel Kawczynski to visit Jersey during our recent meeting at Westminster. His interests in agriculture and Saudi Arabia have specific relevance to Jersey and we have arranged meetings with the agriculture industry, Islamic finance specialists and with representatives of the general financial services sector."
