Boat show to support Prince's Trust

30 March 2012

Jersey’s fifth annual boat show will raise money for youth charity The Prince’s Trust, which works in partnership with Jersey Youth Service to help disadvantaged young people into work or training.

The three-day show, which will take place in and around St Helier Marina between 5 May and 7 May 2012, is expected to attract thousands of visitors. Powered vessels and yachts will be on display, and there will be quayside food, drink and entertainment.

Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey, Myra Shacklady, said: “During last year’s event, more than £5,000 was raised for Wessex Cancer Jersey. In 2012 The Prince’s Trust has been selected as our chosen charity and we hope Islanders will dig deep to make a big difference to this worthwhile cause and the numerous young people it helps.”

Rick Libbey, Regional Director for The Prince’s Trust in the South West, said: “We are delighted that The Prince’s Trust has been chosen as this year’s charity for the Barclays Jersey Boat Show. Over the next 7 years, The Prince’s Trust will help more than 1,400 young people from Jersey into work, training or enterprise. We are incredibly grateful for the support of so many Islanders to give young people the chance to fulfil their potential.”
