22 June 2012

Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Paul Routier, represented Jersey at the 18th British-Irish Council (BIC) summit meeting at Stirling Castle in Scotland on 22 June 2012.

The meeting was hosted by the Scottish Government and was attended by leaders and ministers from the 8 BIC member administrations:

  • UK and Irish Governments
  • devolved administrations of the Scottish and Welsh Governments and Northern Ireland Executive
  • States of Jersey and Guernsey
  • Government of the Isle of Man

The Council discussed the economic situation in their respective administrations, focusing in particular on the effectiveness of programmes and policies to support youth employment. The Council also considered policies and activities underway to support the development and deployment of marine energy technologies.
