Finnish Ambassador visits Jersey

03 December 2012

The Finnish Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mr Pekka Huhtaniemi, will visit Jersey on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 December 2012.

During his visit, the Ambassador will meet the Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst; the Lieutenant-Governor, His Excellency General Sir John McColl; and the Bailiff, Sir Michael Birt.

Among the Ambassador’s engagements will be a visit to the General Hospital to see cancer screening equipment developed by a Finnish company, a business lunch with finance and trade representatives, and a visit to the Jersey Museum. He will also attend a reception for Finnish nationals living in Jersey, which is being hosted by the Honorary Consul to Finland, Tim Herbert.

Senator Gorst said “It is a pleasure to welcome the Finnish Ambassador to Jersey. Finland is an important member state of the European Union and I look forward to our governments developing further cultural, political and economic relations.”

The Ambassador will stay as a guest at Government House, and will also attend a dinner hosted by the Bailiff.
