Jersey Boat Show returns for 2013

13 December 2012

Jersey's annual boat show will return to St Helier Marina for a sixth year over the May Bank holiday in 2013.

The three-day event, which is organised by Jersey Marinas on behalf of Ports of Jersey, attracted more than 30,000 visitors last year. The 2013 event takes place between Saturday 4 May and  Monday 6 May and will again offer free admission and a full programme of activities and entertainment on and off the water, suitable for all ages.

The Royal Navy is a regular presence at the annual maritime event since it first began in 2008. In 2013 its programme is likely to include visiting naval vessels as well as a Royal Marines band, which will perform in a charity concert.

The principal sponsor of the Jersey Boat Show 2013 is Barclays, which has supported the event for the past three years. Barclays Managing Director, Paul Savery, said: ‘We are delighted to be once again supporting the Jersey Boat Show, which has rapidly established itself as a major community event in the Island. We are looking forward to the 2013 event and are grateful for the continuing support and involvement of the Royal Navy’.
Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey, Myra Shacklady, said: ‘The Barclays Jersey Boat show is now firmly established in the leisure boating calendar, not only locally but also beyond our shores. We are delighted to have the continuing support of our principal sponsor Barclays as well as the participation once again of the Royal Navy, which is always a crowd pleaser.

'I have no doubt we will deliver an event to be proud of in 2013, one that continues to support and promote our local marine leisure industry and ancillary services but equally a community event that attracts a large number of visitors and residents to experience at first hand our diverse maritime culture’.
