Police Headquarters public information meeting

20 July 2012

The meeting will be on Tuesday 7 August 2012, 7.30pm at the Town Hall, St Helier.

A public consultation was held in February with those likely to be affected by the proposed development. Individual meetings were held with neighbours and the wider public before the official planning process began. Having received this feedback and held discussions with the Environment Department, the scheme has been revised in response to the points made by consultees.

The meeting is being scheduled to support the submission of the Planning Application, providing an opportunity for attendees to understand the proposals as fully as possible and to ask questions of those involved in the scheme.

Deputy Noel said “I think it is important to provide the opportunity for the public to be as informed as possible as part of the planning application process. This additional meeting will show how the design has been changed as a result of the consultation process and explain how people can give their views to the Planning Department as part of the application process.

“This project will be crucial in providing Jersey’s first purpose built Police Headquarters and will provide the kind of working environment demanded by modern policing. The proposal will also free up the whole of the Sumerland site for much needed affordable housing.

“I would like to thank the Connétable of St Helier for providing the venue and offering to chair the meeting. I do hope those with an interest in the project will attend to ensure they have the best possible understanding of the scheme.”

It is expected that information on the revised proposals will be published in the early part of August.
