Repairs to St Helier Marina

14 November 2012

Repair work is being carried out to St Helier Marina after cracks were discovered in its south-west corner, which were allowing water to escape at low tide.

The cracks were found in a small section of concrete capping stone along the top of the sheet piling during an inspection on Monday 12 November 2012. Vessels moored in the marina have not been affected as the minimum water level has been maintained by the marina’s natural flow of ground water. Repairs should be completed by Transport and Technical Services later today (14 November).

Plans to remove the redundant linkspan, next to the Lifeboat Station on the Albert Pier, and replace it by walkways are also underway.

The work will include the removal of sheet piling around the linkspan, allowing safer access to lifeboats and the marina. It will also increase the useable space in the marina area by closing the gap in the sea wall through which the linkspan passes.
