New soft play area at the Airport

26 March 2013

A new children's soft play area will open at Jersey Airport tomorrow (Wednesday 27 March).

The aviation themed play area, which is called the ‘Aero Zone’, is next to the Aviator Café in the arrivals terminal. It measures about 24 square metres and features a replica aeroplane with gadgets.

Group Customer Relationship Manager for Ports of Jersey, Rosemarie Grimster, who is responsible for the terminals, says "It was always our intention to recreate a soft play area at the airport as part of our commitment to enhancing the customer experience here.

"We appreciate how difficult it can be to keep youngsters entertained and have no doubt this play zone will prove a popular and welcome distraction. It is conveniently located next to a café, which means the children can be supervised while the accompanying adults can sit and relax with a cup of coffee or light snack."

Healthy snacks

As part of the launch, Autogrill Jersey, who manage the Aviator Café, will be serving healthy snacks. Until Sunday 14 April 2013,  they will also be offering café and play area users who spend £5 or more on food and drinks half an hour’s free car parking in the short stay area or an hour in the long stay car park.

The ‘Aero Zone’ has been designed and installed by UK-based specialist company Tigerplay. There is no admission charge for children using the play facility but they must be supervised by an adult at all times and age/height restrictions do apply.

If the new play facility proves popular, Jersey Airport may create a similar play zone in the airside lounge for departing passengers.
