Temporary car park refused by Planning

24 May 2013

The owner of a field in St John who created a temporary car park without planning permission has had his application refused. The owner will now be told to dig up the area.

The Planning Applications Panel considered a retrospective application to create a car park in part of a green zone field on La Rue des Servais. Cars already park on the land and the parish constable and deputy support the move to create more parking in the area.

However, there is a policy against development in the green zone without compelling justification and creating parking on an agricultural field would have gone against that policy.

Several neighbours attended the panel meeting to object to the unauthorised development. Amongst their concerns were the loss of agricultural land and the impact of extra vehicles in a rural area.

The panel agreed the applicant had not made a compelling case to go against the green zone policy and asked for the hardcore to be removed.
