Emergency repairs to Rouge Bouillon

21 May 2014

The area of road where a hole appeared in Rouge Bouillon, near to the junction with Midvale Road, will be repaired tonight (21 May 2014) and the road will be closed.

A problem was detected yesterday (20 May 2014) by a roads inspector from Transport and Technical Services (TTS) in the section of road between Robin Hood and Midvale Road. Following further investigations this morning, engineers discovered there was a void just below the surface of the road which could lead to collapse. The westbound lane was closed immediately (except for access) and diversions put in place.

These diversions will continue until 7.30pm when the whole road will need to be closed so that repairs can be completed and the road resurfaced. This work is likely to continue until 6.30am tomorrow. Diversions will be signed.

Since the hole is so close to the centre of the road, the whole road needs to be closed to ensure the safety of the public and those carrying out the repairs.
