Local recycling business internationally recognised

24 February 2015

A Jersey recycling business, AAL Recycling, has been awarded an international standard accreditation, the ISO 14001, for its work in developing an environmental management system. The ISO 14001 is issued by Certification Europe, which provides management system certification and standards to organisations globally.

In recognition of their achievement, AAL Recycling will be presented with an Eco-Active Business Level 3 plaque by the Planning and Environment Minister, Deputy Steve Luce, at Eco-Active Business’s first ‘lunch and learn’ training seminar on 25 February 2015.

Environmental excellence

AAL Recycling join a select group of businesses in the Island that are working to this level of environmental excellence. Environmental manager of AAL Recycling, Tim Pedley, said “This was an opportunity to do things better: by engaging with the programme you also establish a culture of constant improvement. We are now looking at the whole lifecycle of products, and by taking a longer term approach we hope to gain benefits beyond business growth and a lower environmental footprint; we also hope it will make an impact on our bottom line.”

Eco-Active programme manager, Jane Burns, said “We are delighted that AAL Recycling have been recognised for their efforts and continued improvements. Level 3 Eco-Active Businesses are leaders in the Island in environmental performance. Reduction in consumption, including the reduction of energy use together with all-round improved efficiencies, reduces costs and makes perfect business sense.”

Eco-Active are working hard to support businesses with environmental improvements that can lead to them becoming increasingly efficient and reducing costs.
