More bus shelters to be built

10 November 2016

Following a recent public consultation, the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is planning to install five more bus shelters at various stops around the Island.

DfI has identified the following five locations for new shelters

  • Grande Route de St Clement, westbound at St Clement’s Primary School
  • Route des Quennevais, St Brelade (northbound at Clos des Quennevais)
  • Havre des Pas, westbound opposite Marett Road, St Helier
  • St Brelade’s Bay, eastbound at Woodford Car Park and eastbound opposite L’Horizon Hotel

Providing bus shelters enhances bus travel and improves the travelling experience for passengers. DfI has been installing more shelters each year, with 12 completed in 2015 and seven constructed so far in 2016. Further locations are currently being assessed so that a shortlist for 2017 can be determined.

Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Eddie Noel, said “I am really pleased we have identified these five new sites for shelters and I will be continuing to work with my officers to finalise more sites next year. Shelters are warmly welcomed by bus users, and I see them as a key initiative which enhances the attractiveness of public transport as a mode of travel.”
