Phone payment trial extended to Patriotric Street and Les Jardins car parks

03 October 2017

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is extending the trial of phone payment for parking to Patriotic Street and Les Jardins car parks from Monday 9 October 2017.

Drivers will still be able to use paycards, season tickets and eco permits.

On Wednesday 13 September 2017, DfI launched the PayByPhone service trial in Green Street car park, extending it a fortnight later to Pier Road car park.

The new service gives people an alternative to buying paycards in advance: PayByPhone allows drivers to pay for their parking via their mobile phone using a credit or debit card. It is also possible top up an existing parking fee without having to return to the vehicle.

Anyone planning to make use of this service at Patriotic Street or Les Jardins car parks can register with PayByPhone from their computer, tablet or phone in readiness for when the system goes live on Monday 9 October 2017.

The easiest way to do this is to download the app or log on to paybyphone.co.uk and enter your vehicle registration (including the ‘J’) and credit card details. Once registered, it is very easy to use the new system by accessing your account and providing the location number listed on signs in the car park.

If you do not want to receive text reminders or text receipts, which are chargeable at 10p each, you must turn off that option. Otherwise, the charge is the same as paycards.

DfI is especially interested in getting feedback from users. Any comments should be directed to uksupport@paybyphone.com or the PayByPhone 24/7 Support Helpline on +44 (0) 330 400 7275.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Eddie Noel, said “People are really getting the hang of the new PayByPhone system now, although we are still seeing a few incidences of people forgetting to include ‘J’ with their registration number.”
