Parent and Baby event in St Helier

03 July 2018

Jersey’s first maternity fair will be held in St Helier later this month.

The Parent and Baby event takes place at the Pomme d’Or Hotel on Sunday 15 July from 10am to 3pm, and is aimed at all those who are planning to have children or have recently expanded their families.

A wide range of groups providing services to parents-to-be, or to those who’ve just experienced childbirth, will be represented at the drop-in event. These include:

  • Midwives
  • Family Nursing & Home Care
  • GPs
  • Physiotherapists
  • Philip’s Footprints
  • Friends of SCBU
  • Family First
  • Baby Lifeline
  • Jersey Children’s Charity

Head of Midwifery, Julie Mycock, said “There are lots of different ways that Mums and Dads can receive support as they plan a pregnancy, while a woman is pregnant or after the baby’s been born, but we sometimes find there’s a lack of awareness of what’s on offer.

“This event will bring many of these organisations and professions under the same roof and offer visitors the chance to find out more and get the relevant contact details for the future, whether they are having a baby next month or in several years’ time.”

The event will be free-of-charge to visitors, who are welcome to drop in at any time between 10am and 3pm – it will finish in good time to allow football fans the chance to get in front of the TV for the World Cup Final later that afternoon. For those who’ve already started a family, children are welcome – refreshments will be available and there’ll be a face painter at the event.
