Health and Safety Inspectorate relocating

28 November 2018

The Health and Safety Inspectorate is relocating to sit alongside Justice and Home Affairs colleagues in Maritime House.

The Inspectorate carries out a wide range of activities to ensure that Islanders at work, and other people who could be affected by working activities, are not exposed to risks to their health or safety. As the majority of the inspectors’ time is spent, both proactively and reactively, visiting workplaces, and dealing with telephone and email concerns, the impact on customers is expected to be minimal.

This planned move is part of the States of Jersey modernisation programme and aims to make life easier for customers by bringing together services that often need to be accessed by customers at the same time.

Employers looking to access core guidance publications, accident record books and scaffold inspection books can continue to do so via the website www.gov.je/hsi or in person from both Customer and Local Services in La Motte Street and Maritime House.

Islanders wanting to speak to an inspector can contact the team on 447300 or visit them in person at Maritime House, La Route du Port Elizabeth. There will also be a telephone available for customers visiting Customer and Local Services in La Motte Street, connecting them to a member of the Health and Safety Inspectorate team.

Tammy Fage, Director of Health and Safety, explained: “This is a logical move for the team to be located together with Justice and Home Affairs. The location will enable the team to continue to deliver a high quality service to our customers.”
