Jersey School Survey report published

12 September 2018

The 2018 Jersey School Survey report has been released today by Statistics Jersey.

Every Jersey child in school years 6, 8, 10 and 12 was given the opportunity to take part in the survey during school time in March 2018. The survey was run independently by Statistics Jersey, with a range of stakeholders across government requesting specific topic areas to be included.

The school survey covered a wide-range of topics including
  • home life
  • wellbeing
  • self-esteem
  • health
  • tobacco
  • alcohol
  • drugs
  • sex
  • diet
  • physical activity
  • influence
Some sections (e.g. drugs and sex) were not included, or were amended, for the younger children’s versions of the questionnaire.

The survey has been run every four years since 1998, enabling changes in behaviours and attitudes to be monitored over time. Previous versions of the report were titled the ‘Health Related Behaviour Questionnaire’. The results from the school survey will allow everyone in the Island to better understand life from a child’s perspective, and help in the decision-making of those providing services to children.
