Climbing towards recovery

02 October 2019

Six members of staff from the States of Jersey Prison Service recently scaled new heights to raise money for a charity that supports servicemen and veterans.

Prison officers and staff recently climbed Ben Nevis in aid of the Rock 2 Recovery charity. Darren Blake, Neil Fairclough, Glynn Monet, Jackie McKenna, Bernie Gallacher and Debbie McCance were joined by friend Michel Feger for the challenge.

It took the team 6 hours 55 minutes to complete the challenge, which has raised in excess of £2,300.

Rock 2 Recovery, which links distressed servicemen and veterans to mental health professionals for emergency and routine help, is regularly supported by the States of Jersey Prison Service.

Speaking about the Ben Nevis challenge, Prison Governor and Head of SoJPS Nick Cameron said: “I would like to congratulate these members of staff for raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.”
