Young people asked for views on climate change

02 August 2019

Young people chatting

Jersey’s young people are being invited to attend a drop-in event tomorrow (Saturday 3 August) to give their views on how the Government should tackle the climate emergency.

Abbie Syvret, who is undertaking an Earthwatch internship with the Government of Jersey, will host the session, which will encourage young islanders to give their opinions about how the Government should work towards becoming carbon neutral. The views expressed during the session will be recorded, and will be added to the feedback that’s used to develop the Climate Emergency action plan.

Abbie said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to come together in an informal and friendly environment, and to give their views on a subject that’s really important for our island.

“I’d like to encourage any young people who have not yet given their views to take part – they only need to drop in for a few minutes, and their feedback will help to shape the action our Government takes to tackle climate change.”

The event is open to all islanders aged 15 to 21, and will take place at Café Jac at the Jersey Arts Centre. Young people wishing to give their views can drop it at any time between 11am and 1pm tomorrow.

Young islanders wishing to give their views can also fill in Abbie’s online survey, which can be accessed through gov.je.
