New recruits to deliver Disability Strategy

16 September 2020

Two new employees will join Customer and Locals Services to help deliver the Disability Strategy for Jersey.

Stephanie de la Cour and Anthony Lewis will work across the community to support the inclusion of all disabled Islanders, raise awareness and promote cultural and organisational change.

The Disability Strategy sets out the proposed priorities and actions to help ensure that people living with disabilities in Jersey enjoy a good quality of life. Extensive research and engagement was completed to gather views and needs and the strategy was developed in partnership with Government, voluntary and community organisations and the business community.

The Strategy have five key priorities:

Priority 1: have support to communicate and access information

Priority 2: have greater access to the Island

Priority 3: have good health and wellbeing

Priority 4: have access to education, employment and enriching activities

Priority 5: have equal rights and experience equality

Director of Local Services, Paul McGinnety said: “We are delighted to welcome two Disability Inclusion Officers to our team in Customer and Local Services. They will support the delivery of the strategy and help to make positive changes for the disabled.”

Stephanie de la Cour has moved from another Government position and Anthony Lewis was a journalist with the JEP and a local campaigner for disability equality.
