Plat Douet roadworks to start earlier than scheduled

21 February 2020

Resurfacing work on Plat Douet road, from the junction of La Grande Route de la Cote to the junction with La Blinerie will begin ahead of schedule on Monday, 24 February.

Work on this section of Plat Douet Road, between the coast road and La Blinerie, is scheduled to be completed in segmented phases generally between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm on the following days:

  • Monday, 24 February- Friday, 28 February
  • Monday, 2 March
  • Friday 6 March
  • Monday 9 March

To help ease congestion during the morning, peak traffic will be able to access Victoria Road from Green Road and La Grande de St Clement before 9am. After 9am, motorists will need to use diversions from Grande Route de la Cote to get to the Victoria Road area.

The section of Plat Douet road, between the coast road and Green Road, is planned to be fully closed to all traffic in both directions between 07.30am and 6pm for all the days listed above.

The earlier start to this section is due to a technical fault on a crucial item of equipment needed to place the top layer of the new road surface.

Maintenance Manager Rob Cabot said: “We apologise for the late notice of the change to schedule but due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to move some things around. We urge road users to follow the diversions in place, especially when trying to access Plat Douet School next week. I’d like to thank motorists for their understanding during this crucial work.

“Despite the poor weather, plus a discovery of extra work required after the road surface was removed and this technical fault, we are only two days behind schedule overall.”
