Relocation of Sea Cadets base confirmed

09 November 2020

The Sea Cadets will have an interim new base at the former Police HQ in Rouge Bouillon, as of January 2021.

The Sea Cadets are currently based in a purpose built headquarters on the perimeter of Fort Regent, but it has been evident for some time that the building is no longer in a safe and appropriate condition for their activities.

Following urgent consultation with the Sea Cadets leaders, stakeholders and the Health and Safety Inspectorate, the Rouge Bouillon site was identified as the best option. The Sea Cadets will be based there as an interim solution, while decisions about the future of the site are made and a long term location for the Sea Cadets is secured.

Works to ensure the relevant part of the old Police HQ are fit for purpose have now begun and are estimated to take around 12 weeks.

Minister for Home Affairs, Constable Len Norman said: “I’m very pleased that in conjunction with the Minister for Infrastructure, we have now been able to find a suitable location for our much valued Sea Cadets for the interim, while we continue to review options for a more permanent base.

“I look forward to when the Government are able to offer a clear commitment on future plans for the Sea Cadet’s permanent base.”
