Dr Susan Turnbull return to work

The Medical Officer of Health, Dr Susan Turnbull has returned to practice following a period of sick leave and will resume her role which will focus on mitigating the wider health impacts following the Island’s COVID-19 response.

The Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf said: “I am delighted to welcome back Dr Turnbull whose role enhances the medical expertise and leadership that the Government will draw upon during our response to the pandemic.”

Dr Susan Turnbull said: “I have followed the international and national developments in the global pandemic and I am looking forward to contributing to the Island’s response. I will be working closely with Dr Muscat as we continue moving forward as a community in dealing with this crisis. I cannot express my gratitude enough to Dr Muscat for his work as Acting Medical Officer of Health alongside his clinical duties.”

Consultant in Communicable Disease Control and Microbiology, Dr Ivan Muscat will continue to focus on the COVID-19 strategy and policy guidance; providing advice to Government, healthcare professionals and the public.

Dr Ivan Muscat said: “I’m very pleased to welcome back Dr Turnbull and am looking forward to working together again. Dr Turnbull’s valuable experience will greatly support our overall COVID response. Her focus on the possible negative health effects of response measures, while we maintain our strategy to contain and delay the spread, will be of great value to the Island.”
