Digital COVID Status Certificates available now

20 October 2021

COVID Status Certificates are now available digitally for Islanders to access and currently use within UK domestic certification schemes and France's Pass Sanitaire scheme. The digital record will show Islander's full vaccination record, and QR codes will evidence first and second COVID-19 vaccine doses.

To access the digital certificate, Islanders must be registered to YOTI on their mobile device and have a OneGov account. Those who do not have a mobile device or access to the internet should call the Coronavirus Helpline for support.

Islanders should always check the COVID policies of the country they are travelling to as the requirements for international travel and domestic activities within other countries are determined by each individual jurisdiction, including the definition of 'fully vaccinated'. These policies depend entirely on the rules of that country, and the digital certificates are simply a means to provide Islanders with a digital record of their vaccination.

The ability for Islanders to save their certificate on their smartphone, for use when devices are offline, is being developed. For now, for offline use Islanders may request the PDF certificate be emailed to them via covidsafe.gov.je. Islanders are also recommended to travel with their secure paper certificates as many countries still require these.

Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, said: "I am pleased that COVID Status Certificates are now available digitally, as this will make it much easier for Islanders to access their full COVID-19 vaccination record.

"We are aligning with NHSx and the EU Digital Covid Certificate Gateway, so that Jersey's QR codes can be used for travel in Europe and beyond in the near future. The QR codes are valid for 30 days and at present can be used for domestic events in Scotland and Wales, and in France as part of their Pass Sanitaire scheme.

"I strongly urge Islanders to always check the travel and vaccination requirements of the country they are travelling to in order to ensure all the requirements are met before arriving."

QR codes can be re-issued at any time by logging into covidsafe.gov.je or by calling the Coronavirus Helpline to assist. Once the UK joins the EU Gateway, Islanders will be reminded that new QR codes will need to be generated at this stage.
