Disability Strategy survey launches

24 August 2021

The Government has launched a Disability Survey as part of its Disability Strategy, to improve attitudes across the Island and help provide better opportunities for those with a disability.

Following the introduction of the legislation, the Government is starting work to understand Islanders' perceptions of disability, accessibility, and equality.

The Government is encouraging Islanders to help shape and guide the next phase of the strategy which seeks to improve accessibility and disassociate any stigma with being disabled.

The survey marks the beginning of a campaign around disability that will help the Government can understand past and present attitudes and learn of the barriers that are faced in Jersey.

Minister for Social Security, Deputy Judy Martin, said: "This important work will help our team get a true and clear picture of what life is like for disabled Islanders and I would like to encourage everyone, whether they have a disability or not, to take part."

The survey can be found at www.gov.je/disability.
