Minimum wage consultation launched

16 April 2021

The Minister for Social Security has launched a consultation looking at the way the process for setting and uprating the Island's minimum wage is carried out. The consultation is being published as part of the 2021 Government Plan.

The review of the current process, which has been in place for 15 years, asks for views on a range of alternatives for Jersey, including how the minimum wage might be set in the future.  The  review will also consider the level and timing of the next minimum wage rate.

Minister for Social Security, Deputy Judy Martin said: "I am committed to ensuring that the minimum wage-setting process remains appropriate and meets the specific needs of both employees and employers in Jersey.

"I would like to encourage Islanders to respond to the consultation so we can decide on the best option for Jersey."

The consultation will run from Friday 16 April until the end of May and can be accessed here.
