Rock up vaccine clinics return

10 September 2021

Islanders aged 16 and over who have yet to receive their COVID-19 vaccination will be able to receive their vaccinations at various locations around the Island from Monday as the Government's 'Rock Up' campaign returns.

Islanders can also use the Rock Up clinics to ask healthcare staff any questions they may have about the vaccine.

Clinics will be open from 3pm-5pm each day at the following locations:

  • Monday 13 September- Oakfield Sports Centre
  • Tuesday 14 September- Langford Sports Centre
  • Wednesday 15 September- Royal Square
  • Thursday 16 September- Highlands College
  • Friday 17 September- Royal Square

Following the return to school on Tuesday 7 September, the locations and timings have made the clinics accessible to 16-17 year olds who may not have yet had their first dose.

As of 5 September, 44% of 16-17 year olds have received a first dose. Additionally, 84% of adults over 18 have been fully vaccinated.

Vaccination Programme Operations Lead, Ross Barnes, said: "We have seen a significant increase in 16-17 year olds coming to get vaccinated. This is a great testament to Islanders and the vaccination team as nearly half of all 16-17 year olds have had a first dose of the vaccine.

"We saw how popular the rock ups were initially as nearly 500 people made use of them. I'd like to thank Islanders and the team for their continued support and encourage all those that have yet to receive their vaccine to take advantage of the Rock Ups."

Assistant Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Trevor Pointon, said: "It is encouraging to see young people actively protecting themselves and the wider community. These Rock Up clinics will help ensure more Islanders are better protected. I'd like to thank Islanders and the team for their support throughout and I encourage everyone to get vaccinated as it remains the best way of avoiding serious illness."
