84% of adult Islanders have received at least one dose

24 July 2021

The latest statistics as at Sunday 18 July show that 84% of Islanders aged 18 years and over have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 71% are fully vaccinated.

Walk-in appointments for first doses will be available to all over 18s next week, from Monday 26 to Friday 30, between 5pm and 6pm, and on Saturday 31 and Sunday 1, between 8.30am to 3.30pm. This is the first time Islanders will be able to get their first dose without pre-booking an appointment.

Other key statistics:

  • 95% of over 50 year olds are fully vaccinated
  • 83% of over 30 year olds are fully vaccinated
  • 60% of 18-29 year olds have had one dose of the vaccine

Head of the Vaccination Programme, Becky Sherrington, said: "These statistics are continuing to grow which means that more Islanders are affording themselves good protection, as well as protecting the community and health services.

"Next week, we will be opening the vaccination centre to all over 18 year olds who have not yet had their first dose, which should make it easier for busy Islanders to make time to get their vaccine. I continue to thank those Islanders who are attending for their first and second doses and ask Islanders to urge their friends and families to do the same."

Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, said: "I am pleased to see the vaccination statistics grow week on week, and we are getting closer to nearly all adult Islanders having had at least one dose. This week, Public Health England estimated that one dose of either Pfizer or Moderna is up to 70% effective against the virus. This shows how important it is to get your first vaccine if you haven't already and to come for your second vaccine when you are invited to.

"Our Island's health care staff are working hard to deliver this vaccine programme which is working to protect our lives. I ask Islanders to continue protecting each other by adhering to the current guidance, continue getting your vaccines, and remember to keep your guard up when socialising and travelling over the summer."

Islanders can access the booking system online or call the helpline.
