Paid Government internships available this summer

14 May 2021

Higher Education students have until Sunday 23 May to apply for one of 12 paid internship with the Government of Jersey this summer.

The internships, which run between 28 June to September 2021, have been made possible through funding from the Fiscal Stimulus Fund.  The £50 million Fund was launched to support the Island's recovery from the impact of COVID-19 by funding projects which will help stimulate the economy.

The internships are open to current undergraduate and post graduate students, and those who have graduated in 2020. All applicants must have either Entitled or Entitled to work status.

The internships will give the successful applicants the chance to spend two months working in a Government department that suits their interests and educational background.

To apply, students will need to complete an online Expression of Interest form. They will also have to submit a CV and a 500-word statement explaining what they hope to gain, and why they're interested in their chosen area before Sunday 23 May.

Applicants will need to be available for an introduction meeting on Friday 4 June, either in person, or virtually. They will also need to be in Jersey between June to September 2021.

Assistant Minister for Education, Deputy Scott Wickenden, said: "The Government of Jersey is the biggest employer in Jersey, and it's also one of the most diverse.

"The breadth of the work we do means that we can offer interns a wide range of placements in an area that suits their skill and talents, giving real life experience in their chosen profession: from maintaining the Island's critical infrastructure to providing world-class health care.

"It's vital that as an-Island, and a Government, we continue to invest in our on-Island talent. This Fiscal Stimulus Funding will mean that we can offer students a taste of the rewarding careers they could pursue in Government.

"I'd encourage any interested students to apply."
