Unemployment figures lowest since 2011

13 April 2022

The latest unemployment report has been released today and shows that unemployment figures in Jersey are at their lowest since records began in 2011.

The report highlights that the number of Islanders registered as 'actively seeking work' has decreased by 600 since March 2021 thanks to the Back to Work programme.

Currently, the number of people who don't have employment is 470 and registered job seekers in Jersey stands at 720. Positively, 250 of these already have some part time work and are looking for more hours.

Minister for Social Security, Deputy Judy Martin, said: "I'm delighted to see the number of unemployed come down as the Back to Work team continue to get as many job seekers back into employment as quickly as possible.

"The team will remains focused on supporting long-term jobseekers and doing their best to help them towards employment."

Employers interested in joining the incentive scheme should contact the Back to Work Team on 444444.
