Rouge Bouillon review report published

08 March 2023

A report following the review of Rouge Bouillon has been published online today.

School reviews take place every three years and consider four main areas: the school environment; the effectiveness of the school’s leadership; the behaviour and personal development of pupils, and the standards of teaching, learning and achievement.

All reviews use the Jersey Schools Review Framework which was piloted across Government schools from 2016 – 2019. After a pause during COVID, review visits have re-started this academic year.

Rouge Bouillon was reviewed over three days by a team of eight reviewers, led by an experienced off-Island consultant. During their visit, the team observed 40 lessons, listened to a sample of students reading, and spoke with school leaders.

Headteacher of Rouge Bouillon, Russel Price, said: “I’m pleased that the review identified the commitment and success of staff in creating a supportive, welcoming school community. I’m also pleased that the review acknowledges the substantial progress we have made since the previous review, and the staff effort that has gone into it.

“I welcome the insight from this review, which will inform our ongoing commitment to enable all our children to reach their full potential.”

Each review is led by an independent external reviewer, experienced in conducting reviews in other jurisdictions. They are joined by a Senior Adviser from the Department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES) and senior school leaders currently working in Jersey schools.

Following each review, the school, parents and CYPES will receive a short report of the findings which will be available on the Jersey Schools Review Framework webpage, where parents and carers can watch videos and read factsheets in English, Polish and Portuguese to find out more about the process.
