Trust or settlement distributions

Trust or settlement income distributions are liable to Jersey tax.

Income distributions from a Jersey trust

This income will have Jersey tax deducted at 20% before it is paid. However, it must still be declared on your personal tax return. This is because we can't calculate some tax reliefs properly unless we know your total income from all sources.

Income distributions from an overseas trust or settlement

An overseas trust or settlement is one where the trustees are resident outside Jersey.

You may be eligible for double taxation relief on taxed income if it is a UK or Guernsey trust, as we have double taxation agreements with those jurisdictions. We will need to see the relevant tax calculation.
