Parking at Sand Street car park

​​​​How to pay

You can pay for parking in Sand Street car park using a pay station or PaybyPhone.

You can't combine payment methods or use paycards.

Pay stations

Our pay stations accept payment by:

  • debit or credit cards
  • ApplePay

We do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards.

Pay stations are located at the pedestrian car park entrances. When you return to the car park:

  • go to a pay station
  • key in your car's full registration plate, including the J
  • follow the on-screen instructions to make your payment
  • the system allows you 15 minutes to exit the car park from the time you paid

If you're paying for a hired car you don't need to include the H from the registration plate.

 

PaybyPhone

You can use PaybyPhone to pay at Sand Street car park. The location code is 803713.

You must start your session as soon as you park. You can extend your session without having to return to your car, but it must be the same session.  

Once you’re ready to leave, just drive out ensuring that your session has covered the full time you were parked.

The 15 minutes allowance to exit Sand Street car park does not apply to PaybyPhone.

Parking costs

You have 5 minutes to find your parking place before you start to get charged.

Once you've paid for your parking, you have 15 minutes to exit the car park. This does not apply when using PaybyPhone. If you leave without paying for your parking, you'll be issued with a fine.​​

Costs increase if you park for longer than 3 hours to encourage short stay parking.

Eco-friendly parking permit

You can use your eco-friendly parking permit in Sand Street to get half price parking.

You can pay by debit or credit card. We don't accept American Express or Diners Club cards.

If you qualify for free parking you'll be restricted to a maximum stay of 3 hours. If you exceed the 3 hours you'll be issued a fine.

Disabled parking at Sand Street

You must have a Disabled Driver Park Smart Card to pay for disabled parking at Sand Street. You can’t use paycards or PayByPhone.

The card is free, but you’ll need to pay to get a replacement if you lose or damage it.

You still need to display your blue badge when you park. 

To apply for a card:

  • read the terms and conditions
  • take your blue badge to the Parking Administration Office at Sand Street

Terms and conditions for a Disabled Driver Park Smart Card​

Disabled parking costs

You have 3 hours of free parking with your smart card. If you want to stay longer you have to pay the usual hourly charge.

You have 5 minutes to park before charging starts and 15 minutes to leave after you paid. There is no time allowed to leave if you’re using PayByPhone.

If you leave without paying or using the park smart card you'll be fined.

Visitors using disabled parking

If you're a disabled visitor and you want to park at Sand Street you must:

  • bring your disabled parking badge to the administration office at Sand Street car park
  • give your vehicle registration number

We’ll keep your details on file for that day. If you want to use the car park again you'll need to follow the same process each time.

After you registered you must clearly display your disabled parking badge in your vehicle.
