How Back To Work can help you find work

The Back to Work service

Back to Work support registered jobseekers find work and our recruitment team is actively engaged with local employers. We’re part of Customer and Local Services.

Our team is made up of experienced Employment Advisors who help their customers with a range of employment needs.

If you receive Income Support, you'll need to engage with Back to Work unless you're exempt from job seeking.

You can also use our service if you're a Jersey resident with Entitled status.

Part of our team focuses on jobseekers aged 16 and 24 who:

  • have little work experience
  • would benefit from advice and support from an Employment Advisor
  • would benefit from work placements and training opportunities

Another team supports jobseekers aged 50 and over who often have a lot of work experience and may need support changing careers or developing skills.

We also offer industry training which is a blend of classroom training and on site work experience provided. Find more information on industry training for jobseekers.

Register as a jobseeker

To receive support from an Employment Advisor register as a jobseeker using the online form below.

An advisor will be allocated to you to provide:

  • 1 to 1 support
  • structured job seeking advice
  • training to help you back into employment

As a registered jobseeker you'll have access to Job Club and Job Station to help your search for employment.

What you’ll have to do

To receive the full amount of Income Support you’re entitled to, you’ll need to do all you can to find work.

The jobseeker agreement you’ll sign will detail what you need to do to find work and identify support you need.

You’ll need to:

  • keep a record of what you do to find work
  • attend appointments to confirm you’re available for and actively seeking work
  • discuss your search for work with your Employment Advisor
  • identify all opportunities that are available
  • attend the mandatory training
  • attend appropriate training courses

You’ll be sent vacancies every day from CLS Vacancy Board and you’ll need to apply for relevant roles.

You should also register to receive email alerts for new roles posted on jobs in Jersey.

Recommended training

If you register as a jobseeker you may need to attend training, including:

  • CV writing
  • job application workshop
  • interview workshop

This training is free and delivered by our Back to Work service. Your Employment Advisor will discuss suitable sessions when they meet with you.

Our recruitment service

Our Back to Work Recruitment service is a free recruitment agency for employers. Employers contact us to advertise vacancies and we match our registered jobseekers to those roles.

Your Employment Advisor will share and discuss all vacancies advertised with us and will put your CV forward for those roles. The team will then shortlist suitable candidates for the employer. You may be asked to apply directly for the vacancy.
