Cheap Tree Scheme in Operation

05 February 2009

Today, Thursday 5th February 2009,  the Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Connétable Mike Jackson visited the States Nursery at Warwick Farm to view the young trees that are available for purchase by the public under the Cheap Tree Scheme. Nine thousand trees are being made available at a cost of 75p (plus GST) each whip.

The Cheap Tree Scheme has been in operation since 1979, and was introduced to encourage more trees to be planted in Jersey. There will be 28 different varieties of trees and hedging whips available while stocks last. The scheme will run until April 2009.

In addition to the trees, stakes and guards will also be available for purchase at a cost of £1.60 each plus GST.

Trees can be purchased from the States Nursery at Warwick Farm on La Grande Rue de St Jean. To place an order or find out more information, please call Bob Kearsey on Tel 448659.
